Arang Choi (*1992 in Seoul, Korea) draws inspiration for her paintings from documentaries about nature, landscapes, and animals, combined with her own observations. She translates these influences directly into oil paintings, creating a fantastical universe uniquely her own. Central to her work is her alter ego 'Emulb,' a fluid creature whose name is 'Blume' (German for 'flower') spelled backward. Emulb represents a hybrid form—part animal, human, fantasy, botanical creation, landscape and allegory for nature—constantly evolving and serving as a mediator for the artist to visualize her imagination. Choi’s artistic practice is a crossroad of mystical fiction and reality, unfolding like an infinite dream.
